Our client is the Canadian head office of a global automotive brand, one of the most recognized names in the industry. Their Information Services team is looking for a seasoned End User Technology Solutions Architect to take ownership of how technology works for every employee across the organization: laptops, mobile devices, printers and meeting rooms.
...
This is the senior technical seat for the digital workplace. You will own the architecture and roadmap for end user technology, act as the final escalation point when a problem is too complex for the rest of the team, and lead a small implementation team of around five people. The work is a genuine mix of strategy and hands-on engineering. One day you are designing the standards for how devices are built, deployed, patched and secured. The next you are solving a difficult Tier 3 issue or guiding the team through a rollout.
The role exists because the previous architect moved internally to a multi-year project, so this is an established, well-supported seat rather than something being built from scratch. It reports to the Manager, User Services, and comes with direct access to the VP, executives and the wider leadership team. Because of that visibility, the ability to explain technical decisions in plain, business-friendly language matters just as much as technical depth.
The client is looking for someone curious and adaptable who goes beyond the task in front of them: a person who spots what could work better and improves it, rather than waiting to be asked.
If you're interested, please send your resume to kyle.chan@randstaddigital.com
Advantages
Deep, hands-on work with next-generation end user technology, not just keeping legacy systems running.
High visibility with senior leadership, with real opportunity to showcase your work.
A clear runway: a 1-year contract with strong potential to extend up to 3 years based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities
Own the architecture and solution design for the platforms that deploy and manage the organization's endpoints, and shape the workplace technology roadmap by assessing current capabilities and recommending future-state improvements.
Create both high-level and detailed designs for managing end user technology, covering laptops, mobile devices, printers and meeting room systems, as well as virtualization.
Design endpoint management standards, including configuration baselines and deployment approaches, and govern the full process from base image through deployment to ongoing support, in line with enterprise and security requirements.
Serve as the subject matter expert, technical lead and third-level escalation point for the implementation team, providing coaching, technical guidance and mentoring.
Build automated workflows for provisioning and patching to reduce manual effort and accelerate zero-touch deployment of end user technology.
Partner closely with the security team to strengthen endpoint security posture, aligning with corporate policies and compliance frameworks, and support authentication standards including single sign-on, passwordless and multi-factor authentication.
Act as the primary technical contact for external vendors and affiliate teams, resolving persistent Tier 3 issues and managing those relationships.
Own the user experience for end user technology, identifying bottlenecks and designing improvements for performance, application delivery and login speed.
Maintain standard operating procedures, manage the hardware lifecycle, and track and audit software licenses to ensure proper allocation and compliance.
Provide technical leadership on change, assessing the impact of migrations, OS rollouts and major workplace upgrades on end users.
Continuously evaluate emerging technology, such as AI-driven support and modern collaboration tools, and lead proof-of-concept initiatives.
Qualifications
Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with a proven ability to translate technical detail into clear, business-friendly language. This role works directly with executives and leadership, so communication is as important as technical ability.
A curious, adaptable and self-driven approach, with a track record of improving things without being asked.
6 or more years of progressive experience in End User Computing, IT infrastructure architecture or systems engineering.
2 or more years leading end user technology change, mentoring technical teams and assessing the impact of change on end users.
Hands-on architectural experience with unified endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, HCL BigFix, VMware, or AWS End User Computing.
Deep, current expertise across the Microsoft ecosystem, including a strong understanding of Windows 11, macOS, and mobile device management for iOS and Android, along with meeting room technology.
Familiarity with identity platforms such as Entra ID and Okta, and a solid grasp of endpoint security principles.
Proficiency in scripting and automation, such as PowerShell and Python, to streamline operations and packaging.
A university degree or college diploma in computer science or a related field.
Able to work on site in the east end of Toronto three days a week (Monday to Thursday).
