As part of this Engineering & Design role, you will play a pivotal role within the project department. The company, known for its expertise serving over 1,000 businesses across Canada, is dedicated to safety and excellence. As an Estimator – Project Department, your mission will be to prepare accurate quotes for major projects, including residential towers, commercial complexes, and industrial sites. You will work under the Director of Operations and collaborate closely with the Chief Estimator to ensure the sustainability and quality of our fire protection services. This role is crucial in supporting our vision: to become the largest and best fire protection organization in Canada.
Bilingualism is a key asset for this role. While French is the primary language for documentation and local exchanges, functional English is required to communicate effectively with our partners and offices in Ontario, ensuring smooth project coordination on a national scale.

• Competitive salary based on experience, ranging from $55,000 to $65,000 for a junior profile (open up to $100,000 for a senior industry expert).
• 40-hour work week with great flexibility on start times (between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM).

• 3 weeks of vacation (including 2 weeks during the construction holiday period).

• Actively search for potential projects and tenders within the fire protection sector.
• Rigorously analyze tenders, plans, and technical specifications.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for sprinkler systems and other safety devices.
• Prioritize quotes based on deadlines and the strategic importance of projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, architects, and general contractors to obtain necessary technical information.
• Conduct site visits to validate measurements and ensure quote accuracy.
• Negotiate material prices and contracts with subcontractors.
• Calculate labor requirements and establish preliminary project schedules.
• Ensure the complete transfer of technical information to the Project Manager and Superintendent once the contract is secured.
• Guarantee the compliance of submitted quotes according to industry standards.
Qualifications
Skills
• Excellent ability to read and interpret building mechanical plans and technical specifications.
• Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for estimation calculations.
• Analytical mindset, thoroughness, and great attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
• Resourcefulness, autonomy, and a marked sense of initiative.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic office environment.
Requirements
• College or university degree in engineering, building mechanical design, or construction estimation.
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in construction estimation.
• Previous experience in the fire protection or sprinkler installation industry (a very strong asset).
• Good knowledge of NFPA 13 standards and the National Building Code (an asset).
• Functional bilingualism (impeccable French, functional English for inter-provincial exchanges).
• Valid driver's driver's license for site visits.
