Responsibilities
Here's What Awaits You in This Key Role in Blainville:
As an Estimator, you'll manage the estimation process from A to Z for complex projects:
Open bid files and take full ownership of the project, from receiving the invitation to the final submission to the client.
Thoroughly analyze architectural drawings, engineering plans, and specifications for a complete understanding of technical requirements.
Accurately identify technical details and required materials, determining quantities and unit costs.
Exhaustively evaluate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and specialized subcontractors (plumbing, electrical, ventilation, etc.).
Calculate general expenses (insurance, permits, site security, project management fees, and other administrative costs).
Optimize costs by obtaining and analyzing subcontractor quotes to target the best partners based on their respective disciplines.
Draft detailed estimates by project division, including calculating equipment purchase or rental costs.
Proactively identify potential risks (e.g., delays, material price fluctuations, unforeseen site conditions) and incorporate safety margins into estimates.
Develop realistic preliminary schedules in collaboration with internal teams and subcontractors.
Prepare comprehensive and competitive proposals for our clients.
Qualifications
What You'll Need to Land This Exceptional Role in Blainville:
Relevant Education: Bachelor's or DEC (Collegial Studies Diploma) in Civil Engineering, Estimation, Building Drafting, or any other equivalent relevant training.
Solid Experience: A minimum of 5 years of mandatory experience as an Estimator with a general contractor in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional construction (residential or condo experience is not relevant for this position).
Complete Mastery of all estimation steps, from invitation reception to client submission.
Excellent knowledge of trades and the ability to effectively target them.
Valid ASP card.
