Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership: Lead and execute timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, collaborating with cross-functional department managers.
Reporting & Compliance: Prepare comprehensive monthly and fiscal financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Oversee and submit necessary industry-specific government filings and payments (e.g., related to beer and liquor).
Strategic Planning: Actively assist the finance team with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and the activation/management of financial systems.
Analysis & Insights: Complete regular deliverables, including sales reports, inventory analysis, month-end commentary, and other detailed financial analyses to support strategic decisions, such as contract negotiations and product profitability.
Process Improvement: Review current financial processes and activities to suggest and implement improvements that ensure scaling, compliance, and efficiency.
Team Support: Support the preparation of documentation for external financial audits and work with other departments to ensure the integrity and efficient sharing of financial information.
Team Management (as applicable): Provide authentic leadership and guidance, leveraging team strengths to optimize performance and foster professional development.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education: Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing or food and beverage manufacturing environment.
Skills: Strong quantitative and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Expert knowledge of finance and accounting procedures and regulations.
Technical Proficiency: Strong technical aptitude utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills. Experience with financial modeling and project management.
Mindset: Understands the critical need for confidentiality and thoroughness. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, consistently meeting tight deadlines.
Assets: A CPA designation is considered a significant asset.
