Responsibilities
Lead a preventive maintenance program to minimize costs and maximize equipment utilization.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for vehicles and equipment.
Oversee the accuracy and updates of safety and maintenance records for commercial trucks, chassis, and heavy equipment.
Plan, organize, and direct work to achieve objectives with optimal use of staff, facilities, and equipment.
Manage department personnel, including recruitment, scheduling, discipline, and overtime authorization, in collaboration with the General Manager.
Ensure regular communication with the General Manager, Safety & Compliance teams, and dispatch regarding equipment status.
Submit regular reports covering road calls, breakdowns, accidents, and performance.
Administer activities related to purchasing workshop tools, repair supplies, spare parts, and accessories.
Recommend adjustments (reductions or additions) to staff, facilities, and equipment, as well as changes in service levels.
Administer a testing and inspection program to determine the quality, suitability, and compliance with specifications for vehicles, parts, accessories, and materials.
Supervise complex mechanical maintenance and repair work on trucks and other motorized equipment (e.g., engine overhauls, transmissions, air conditioners, brakes, electrical systems).
Perform any other related duties.
Qualifications
Advanced proficiency in French (both spoken and written).
5 to 10 years of experience managing large fleets.
A master mechanic license or certificate is a significant asset.
In-depth understanding of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and heavy equipment.
Knowledge of the operational and maintenance requirements for various types of heavy construction equipment.
