Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the financial launch of a high-impact Not-for-Profit. You will establish the chart of accounts, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
Manage the complex migration of specific business units, intellectual assets, and personnel from the private corporate side to the NFP entity, ensuring tax efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Act as the lead liaison for external tax partners in Canada and the US.
Oversee state/provincial tax remissions, international financial statement preparation, and annual corporate filings for a multi-national footprint.
Design and maintain a robust framework for cross-charge transactions and transfer pricing between entities to ensure clean, audit-ready books and seamless consolidated reporting.
Oversee the financial health of a private real estate portfolio, including mortgage renewals, property tax assessments, and tenant lease administration (collections and chargebacks).
Provide discreet, high-level financial administration for the Founder’s private holdings and executive expenses.
Develop integrated cash flow models and annual budgets to guide the Principal’s decisions on new ventures or potential M&A activity.
Implement specialized fund accounting for the NFP, ensuring precise tracking of grants, donor-restricted funds, and impact reporting.
Qualifications
Designation: A valid Canadian CPA is required.
Experience: 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant time in a senior, multi-entity environment.
NFP Expertise: Proven experience with NFP filings (i.e. T3010), grant reporting, and the unique compliance requirements of registered charities or social enterprises.
Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced financial modeling in Excel/Google Sheets.
