Responsibilities
-Establishing operational plans and objectives aligned with departmental priorities and strategic goals.
-May have budget accountability and responsibility for managing elements of the group's operating and maintenance budgets.
-Preparing and administering annual operating plans, maintenance plans, budgets, and resource forecasts.
-Ensuring that engineering work complies with applicable legislation, regulations, codes, standards, and policies and procedures.
-Providing engineering oversight and support for capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and operational activities.
-Managing or overseeing the site fire alarm system and associated engineering activities.
-Supporting electrical safety programs and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safe work practices.
-Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, and work practices to enhance departmental effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability.
-Maintaining appropriate engineering, operational, maintenance, and regulatory records.
-Supporting development of engineering standards, procedures, training programs, and best practices.
-Promoting a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, accountability, and professional excellence.
Qualifications
-Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
-Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligibility for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
-8 to 12 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including management or leadership experience of an equivalent scope and complexity.
-Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical teams, projects, processes, and operational activities.
-Experience in electrical infrastructure, industrial facilities, utilities, research facilities, or similar complex operating environments is considered an asset.
