At our facility in Bear Island you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the Safety team as the OHS Coordinator:
- Prepare detailed reports for management and communicate the results of H&S initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Teach proactive H&S risk management strategies at all levels of the organization and maintain emergency plans.
- Develop and oversee advanced health and safety training programs. Deliver and document OSHA-required safety training; educate employees & managers on chemical safety, hazardous materials handling, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses; lead accident investigation meetings and support supervisors with root cause analyses and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and environmental regulations through management of programs like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazardous waste disposal, and emergency response planning.
- Lead and support site-wide safety projects, including maintaining the chemical SDS database, coordinating tank inspections, updating safety documentation (ConformIt, guidelines, handbooks), and driving the Safety Pillar initiatives.
- Represent the site during safety audits and serve as a liaison with corporate to align local practices with broader safety and environmental health initiatives.

- Mastery of occupational health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, and related standards) and their application at the plant level.
- Expertise in risk analysis, safety audits, incident management, and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and supervising Health & Safety (H&S) programs and training initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage PPE programs and lead H&S-related projects.
- Strong background in change management within safety or operational environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software tools.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management or a similar role.
- Education in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
