Your Role
As the H&S Coordinator, you’ll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential.
Your scope includes:
- Support managers/supervisors in maintaining, managing and ensuring that company prevention initiatives are communicated and understood.
- Ensure Compliance with all regulatory requirements including incident reporting and recordkeeping
- Maintain and continuously improve health & safety policies, procedures and programs.
- Act as a key point of contact for safety inspections and audits, supporting preparation and follow-up.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analysis across areas of responsibility.
- Track, analyze and report on safety KPI’s, safety trends, and best practices to identify opportunities and drive proactive risk reduction strategies
- Support plant management team with investigation and analysis of OHS events ensuring consistency in risk analysis, root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions
- Work with local HR to ensure H&S training program for employees and managers is completed on schedule, while adhering to Cascades’ H&S requirements.
- Champion a people-first, safety-first culture through visible floor presence and engagement.
What you bring
You're a natural fit for the H&S Coordinator role if you have:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, HR or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing or industrial environments
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations and compliance requirements
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC), or working toward designation (strong asset)
- Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification (Parts 1 & 2)
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, reporting, tracking)
- Experience with systems such as SAP, Power BI, or safety tracking tools (e.g., Conformit) is an asset
- Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel between sites
