HIGH LEVEL DESCRIPTION
This position provides hydraulic engineering expertise relating to pipeline and facility hydraulic design in support of projects, balancing function, cost, safety, and operational reliability. This role applies the liquids hydraulic practice within Projects to solve project-level problems and deliver fit-for-purpose design outcomes.
...
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering & Analysis
Performs or oversees pipeline and facility hydraulic design and analysis across the full project lifecycle applying engineering principles in liquid hydraulics.
Supports hydraulic and scoping analyses to inform early-stage project decisions.
Applies practical system knowledge with hydraulic design expertise typically limited to a core discipline (steady state, transient, thermal), with a working understanding of discipline, design, and operational interactions.
Actively advances their core discipline knowledge base and/or expansion into additional disciplines under the guidance of more senior engineers.
Applies risk management and value engineering considerations to deliver fit-for-purpose designs that align with project objectives.
Project Delivery & Collaboration
Serves as the System Design lead in the field of liquid hydraulics for assigned projects, applying sound engineering practice to typical design challenges within defined decision frameworks.
Collaborates with Project Development to deliver hydraulic design outputs aligned with defined project scope and execution requirements.
Provides technical oversight to external engineering consultants for assigned work to ensure alignment with Enbridge standards and expectations.
Supports hydraulic initiatives that improve tools, templates, and ways of working within System Design, and provides technical input to standards and governance discussions.
Communication
Interprets defined project inputs, translating them into a clearly framed technical design problem within an established project context.
Communicates complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, adapting depth and framing to support understanding at the project level.
Provides clear technical recommendations and rationale to inform internal decision-making within defined decision frameworks.
Participates in project-specific technical discussions in hydraulics with internal stakeholders but may also engage with customers, partners, and joint venture stakeholders in a limited capacity when required.
SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
Responsible for developing hydraulic design parameters for complex pipeline and facility projects, with recommendations impacting safety, operability, customer commitments, and capital outcomes in the range of tens of millions to billions of dollars.
Exercises technical judgment in solving complex, well-defined problems, integrating cross‑discipline constraints, coordinating required internal and external stakeholders, and escalating for resolution when problem framing or risk posture shift.
May need guidance from senior hydraulic engineers on select matters that are atypical, high-visibility, high-impact, or of significant complexity.
