Responsibilities
• Perform routine and emergency mechanical maintenance on high-speed industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul heavy machinery including conveyors, elevators, asphalt pumps, and rollers.
• Monitor, service, and maintain plant utility equipment such as compressors, boilers, and fluid systems.
• Collaborate closely with the site maintenance team, including 1 Mechanical Supervisor, 1 Electrical Supervisor, 14 Millwrights, and 6 Electricians.
• Respond promptly to after-hours emergency calls on a rotational on-call schedule (approximately once every 10 weeks).
• Adhere strictly to plant safety protocols, including the correct utilization of mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Diagnose mechanical failures quickly to minimize production downtime in a fast-paced, high-heat manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
• Must possess a valid 433A Industrial Millwright license (Ontario Certificate of Qualification).
• Minimum of 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience within a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Transferable background in heavy processing industries such as petroleum, oil, asphalt, chemical, or food production manufacturing.
• Must be willing and able to work comfortably in a hot, industrial production environment.
• Must be compliant with mandatory plant health and safety standards, including a clean-shaven policy required for proper respirator and dust mask fit-testing and seal compliance.
• Flexibility to participate in the after-hours on-call rotation schedule every 10 weeks.
• Proven troubleshooting and repair expertise with heavy-duty industrial conveyor systems and bucket elevators.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial pumps (specifically positive displacement or asphalt pumps) and rotating rollers.
• Basic operational familiarity and troubleshooting skills for industrial compressors and boilers.
• Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, structural layout drawings, and technical schematics.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely use precision measurement tools and shop equipment.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills to work effectively within a large, multi-disciplinary maintenance department.
