Cella by Randstad Digital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructional Designer to join our client's team. In this role, you will be instrumental in leading end-to-end instructional design projects, utilizing structured methodologies to drive impactful learning results. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of adult learning, a proactive mindset, and a proven ability to leverage AI tools to elevate the learner experience.
...
This is a 6-month contract, which allow the talent to work remotely from within Canada.
As an Instructional Designer, you will be a key contributor to digital learning efforts, focusing on the creation of workflow-based enablement and reinforcement assets. You will take a holistic view of all tasks, managing projects from needs analysis through to evaluation. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in learning tools, strategic insight into behavioral science, and strong collaborative skills to work effectively with various internal and external partners. You will be responsible for elevating learning programs to the next level by identifying innovation opportunities and providing data-driven recommendations.
Advantages
• Direct Experience with Cutting-Edge AI Integration - Unlike traditional instructional design roles, this position places a heavy emphasis on Generative AI. You won't just be talking about AI; you will be actively using tools like Synthesia for microlearning and leveraging GenAI for ideation and asset creation. This allows you to build a highly marketable, future-proof portfolio that showcases your ability to blend human-centered design with modern technology.
• Global Influence and Scalability - This role offers the opportunity to design for a global audience. You will gain valuable experience in localization, inclusive design practices (WCAG), and creating content that resonates across different cultures and languages. Mastering the ability to produce "localization-ready" content is a high-level skill that is increasingly in demand by major enterprise organizations.
• End-to-End Strategic Ownership - You aren't just "building slides." This role follows a structured ADDIE/SAM methodology, meaning you own the entire lifecycle of a project—from the initial needs analysis and stakeholder partnership to the final evaluation and data analysis. This level of end-to-end responsibility allows you to prove your ROI as a designer and sharpens your project management and consulting skills.
• Creative Multimodality - The role allows for significant creative variety. Instead of being siloed into one format, you will be developing a wide range of assets, including AI-driven video, digital modules, instructor-led materials, and job aids. This diversity of work ensures that your skills remain sharp across various mediums and prevents the monotony often found in more narrowly defined design roles.
Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end instructional design using a structured methodology (e.g., ADDIE / SAM), including needs analysis, learning objectives, design strategy, development, implementation support, and evaluation.
• Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to translate needs into effective learning solutions and manage reviews/feedback to deliver on scope and success measures.
• Design and develop learning assets across formats, including Synthesia AI microlearning videos (scripting, production, and iteration), digital modules, instructor-led session materials, and job aids.
• Edit and produce video assets (cuts, captions, audio cleanup, transitions, and branding templates) using common video editing tools to create polished, learner-ready microlearning.
• Measure and improve learning effectiveness by defining evaluation approaches, analyzing learner data, and iterating designs based on performance measures.
• Create workflow-based enablement assets such as realistic scenarios, practice activities, prompts, and communities-of-practice materials that support the application of skills in the flow of work.
• Design for a global audience by creating localization-ready content using plain language, consistent terminology, and accessible templates.
• Ensure quality and accessibility by applying learning standards and inclusive design practices (e.g., WCAG), testing content, and improving based on feedback.
• Leverage AI responsibly in the design workflow to accelerate ideation and asset creation while reflecting enterprise expectations around privacy, risk, and brand validation.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills and Qualifications:
• 5+ years of Instructional Design Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in learning experience design, preferably within an enterprise environment.
• Structured Methodology Expertise: Proven end-to-end experience designing enterprise learning using methodologies such as ADDIE or SAM.
• Content Creation Proficiency: Ability to move quickly from storyboarding to learner-ready assets including microlearning videos (Synthesia), digital modules (Articulate Rise/Storyline), and job aids.
• AI Tool Knowledge: Working knowledge of AI concepts and GenAI productivity tools, with the ability to translate AI principles into practical learner prompts and behaviors.
• Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to collaborate with SMEs, manage feedback cycles, and communicate design rationale effectively.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Qualifications:
• LMS/LXP Platforms: Experience publishing content and managing metadata/tags.
• Adult Learning/UX: Background in behavioral science, learning experience design, or UX/content design.
• Analytics: Ability to use learner data and tools like Power BI to evaluate effectiveness.
• Advanced Production: Experience with Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or advanced video editing.
• Localization: Familiarity with supporting translation workflows for global audiences.
