As a Business Consultant, you will play a central role in supporting business operations, blending 50% Project Portfolio Controls (PCO) and 50% Business Effectiveness responsibilities. You will drive financial governance, operational efficiency, resource management, and process re-engineering across key technology portfolios. This is a 4 month contract with potential for extension and/or conversion to full-time.
Hybrid: Every Monday and first Friday of every month in office at their downtown Toronto location.

Responsibilities
• Financial Oversight & Management: Manage and reconcile project financials, including GL reconciliations, accruals, chargebacks, invoice tracing, forecasting, and actuals-to-plan variance analysis with clear commentary.
• Governance & Reporting: Maintain project financial forecasts, monitor progress, and deliver clear status and financial reporting to executive steering committees and senior leadership.
• Resource & Tool Management: Support resource allocation governance, assist with user onboarding, and provide first-line user support and troubleshooting for proprietary resource and financial management tools (Eclipse).
• Process Optimization: Lead process design, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational efficiency and controls.
• Executive Collaboration: Work closely with immediate team members and key stakeholders to prepare executive presentations and perform ad-hoc analyses across headcount, financial data, and operational metrics.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
• 5–10 years of experience in Project Coordination and Business Effectiveness, with a strong focus on Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
• Proven track record managing program/project financials (GL reconciliation, variance analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting).
• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret data from multiple systems and translate insights into business narratives.
• Demonstrated experience in process documentation, process design, and workflow enhancement.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills with strict attention to detail.
Nice to Haves:
• Direct experience working within major Canadian financial institutions.
• Familiarity with GL reconciliation processes and enterprise project/resource tools (such as Eclipse).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and SharePoint.
• Exposure to tools such as Jira, Confluence, Power BI, or Alteryx.
