Responsibilities
Translate technical system specifications into detailed programming specs, clean code, and fully tested applications.
Design, build, and maintain enterprise web applications and backend services using Java and RESTful Web APIs.
Design and optimize database objects, write SQL queries, and perform data tuning across Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Apply microservices architecture principles and modern design patterns to enhance application extensibility, security, and maintainability.
Develop unit test suites, compile data-driven programs, and support comprehensive integration and system testing.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional IT teams, business analysts, and QA specialists throughout all SDLC phases.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical software defects during application deployment, conversion, and operational support.
Author clear technical documentation, code comments, and system specifications in alignment with established development standards.
Qualifications
Web Application Engineering: 5+ years of experience as a designer and developer building large-scale, multi-client web applications (Strictly Required).
Java & Database Seniority: 5+ years of hands-on working experience in Java backend development with Oracle or SQL Server databases (Strictly Required).
REST API Development: 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and building RESTful Web Services and REST APIs (Strictly Required).
DevOps Platform Tooling: Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing Azure DevOps for task management and software development (Strictly Required).
Architecture & Security Knowledge: Solid understanding of microservices architecture, Object-Oriented design patterns, and security protocols (e.g., JWT, OAuth 2.0, SSL) (Strictly Required).
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Prior software development experience within a public sector or broader public sector environment.
Familiarity with web accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG) or rapid application development (RAD) methodologies...
