Responsibilities
Test Case Architecture & Execution: Design and author comprehensive, highly detailed test plans, scripts, and cases. Execute structured functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Defect Governance & Triage: Lead and participate in daily defect triage meetings. Isolate, capture, track, and document software anomalies from discovery to resolution while producing high-level defect summary reports for project leadership.
Automation Engineering: Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts utilizing tools such as Selenium, OpenText UFT, TestComplete, or Postman, and integrate testing suites into automated CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Software Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers within Agile/Scrum ceremonies to clarify software requirements, reproduce bugs, and manage product metrics.
Comprehensive Multi-Type Testing: Conduct diverse verification tracks including white/black box testing, performance/load testing (using JMeter or LoadRunner), data migration validations, and backend database query checks.
Accessibility Auditing: Perform dedicated accessibility testing to ensure client interfaces and application layouts strictly conform to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) regulations and WCAG frameworks.
Technical Documentation: Maintain deep analytical data logs of test coverage, execution progress, and quality baselines, while supplying core technical inputs for operational user manuals and deployment release notes.
Qualifications
Core Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive professional experience across a comprehensive range of manual and automated testing methodologies (including unit, system, penetration, security, AODA, black box, and UAT testing).
Defect Lifecycles Mastery: Proven, solid experience triaging system defects, organizing and facilitating triage sessions, and delivering formal defect summary matrices using enterprise platforms like Azure DevOps, JIRA, or HP ALM.
Regression and Test Artifact Planning: Extensive hands-on experience authoring meticulous test plans and functional test cases, paired with deep experience running regression testing cycles both manually and via automation scripts.
API & Data Testing Tooling: Practical proficiency validating backend APIs using Postman or Cypress, combined with a strong ability to write structured data queries (SQL) to perform data integrity checks.
Scripting Literacy: Foundational understanding of at least one core programming or scripting language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Bash) used to customize automated testing frameworks or manage test data environments.
Methodologies and Frameworks: Clear grasp of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) under Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall delivery models. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Desirable Skills
Prior experience testing software within the Ontario Public Service (OPS) or broader Canadian public sector domains.
Direct quality assurance experience working inside or supporting Contact Centre technology applications.
