A prominent leader in the Canadian financial and corporate services sector is currently accelerating the maturity of its technological ecosystem. We are seeking a strategic ITSM Practice Lead – Event Management to champion the governance, standardisation, and transformation of our event monitoring practices.
...
In this influential, non-management role (zero direct HR reports), you will act as the principal architect of our Event Management evolution. You will bridge the gap between robust infrastructure observability and advanced service management, shifting our current internal frameworks from a reactive state to a highly automated, world-class operational model.
Advantages
True Hybrid Flexibility: Work comfortably from home with occasional touchpoints at modern office hubs in either Montreal or Quebec City (GTA candidates also considered).
Seamless Transition: Benefit from a structured, stress-free handover period alongside the incumbent specialist.
High-Impact Autonomy: Own the practice completely—enjoy the authority to define policies and drive innovation without the burden of people management.
Cutting-Edge Tech Stack: Deep immersion into enterprise-grade ServiceNow ITOM and advanced AIOps/observability ecosystems.
Responsibilities
Practice Governance & Vision: Define, evolve, and enforce the overarching framework, standards, and blueprints for enterprise-wide Event Management. Align these policies with ServiceNow ITOM, Dynatrace, and modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
Federated Ecosystem Leadership: Design and manage a unified operational framework. Establish clear accountabilities, evaluation criteria, and quality gates across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure cohesive rule deployment and noise reduction.
End-to-End Pipeline Optimization: Oversee the complete lifecycle of operational signals from ingestion to correlation and automated remediation, maximizing CMDB data health and filtering out system duplicates.
Cross-Functional Coaching: Act as an internal consultant and subject matter expert for Cloud, Network, Security, and Application teams, helping them industrialize their alerting mechanisms using modern "events-as-code" approaches.
Metrics & Observability Performance: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) centered on alert latency, classification accuracy, noise ratios, and critical service mapping health.
AIOps Innovation: Champion continuous improvement by leveraging Artificial Intelligence and machine learning capabilities within monitoring platforms to accelerate automated resolution and minimize manual operational toil.
Qualifications
Proven ITOM Expertise: 5 to 10 years of progressive experience within IT operations, observability, monitoring, or specialized ITOM environments.
Deep Platform Knowledge: Mastery of ServiceNow ITOM modules (Event/Alert Management, Discovery, Service Mapping) coupled with extensive hands-on experience using enterprise observability tools like Dynatrace (Davis engine, log/trace analysis, metrics, and alerting strategies).
SRE Mindset: Strong familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering concepts, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, automated self-healing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership by Influence: Exceptional capacity to guide cross-functional, multi-technology teams and harmonize technical practices in a matrix organization without direct hierarchical authority.
Communication Mastery: Complete professional fluency in French, paired with professional proficiency in English.
Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties. Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.
Summary
Location: Hybrid (Montreal, QC / Quebec City, QC / Open to Toronto, ON)
Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Team Leadership: 0 direct reports (Practice Leadership focus)
Start Date: As soon as possible
