Reporting to the Glacier Valley Area Manager, this EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment (including assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, boilers, fuel gas compressors, and PLC & DCS control systems) in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will also be required to perform tasks from other disciplines.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
What You’ll Do
• Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
• Conduct routine maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
• Troubleshoot, test, and maintain shutdown devices, fire and gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLC’s and control systems
• Install and configure software in control systems
• Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
• Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
• Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
• Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties
• Maintain core operational task qualifications
• Provide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnel
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma, plus minimum completion of a second year of trades program or 2 years of technical training
• 2 years of related Industry experience
• Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Journeyman Electrician certification and/or Journeyman Instrumentation certification
• 5 years of years of related Industry experience
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience (SAP)
• Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
• Current with technological advances in the compression field
