Journeyman Automotive / Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic
We are a premier industrial fabrication and construction leader that has been a staple in the Fort Saskatchewan industrial community since 1980. We are currently seeking a versatile and highly skilled Journeyman Mechanic to join our team. This is not your standard "bench" role; it is a dynamic position for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in keeping an entire operation running smoothly.
...
The successful candidate will be the go-to expert for our fleet of light to medium-duty trucks, while also acting as the primary caretaker for our facility’s critical machinery and equipment.
Advantages
Highly Competitive Wages: Starting at $45.00 – $48.00/hr based on experience.
Stable, Local Work: All work is based out of our Fort Saskatchewan shop—no long-distance travel or remote camps.
Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health, dental, and vision care (available after the probationary period).
Work-Life Balance: Bi-weekly pay and a consistent schedule in a professional shop environment.
Variety of Work: Escape the monotony of doing the same oil changes every day with a mix of fleet maintenance and facility troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
In this dual-purpose role, your day-to-day will shift based on the shop’s needs. While most of your time will be spent in our mechanics shop, you are the front line for ensuring our facility stays operational.
Fleet Maintenance: Perform full-service maintenance and repairs on our fleet of 1/2-ton to 1-ton flatdecks (primarily Ford and Dodge).
Equipment Troubleshooting: Inspect and maintain critical shop equipment, including overhead cranes, compressors, and makeup air (MUA) units.
Facility Care: Monitor building service needs. You will be expected to troubleshoot and fix issues internally whenever possible, or coordinate with 3rd-party contractors for specialized repairs.
Safety Leadership: Adhere strictly to our Safety Management System and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Certified Journeyman: Must hold a valid Alberta Journeyman Ticket (Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Duty Mechanic).
Fleet Expertise: Proven experience working on Ford and Dodge light-duty and medium-duty trucks (1/2 ton to 1 ton).
Technical Versatility: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment (cranes, compressors, etc.).
Professionalism: Ability to communicate effectively with shop leads and external vendors.
Site Requirements: * Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Standard safety tickets (CSTS/PST, WHMIS 2015).
Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test.
Summary
Join a team that values expertise and reliability. If you are a Jack-of-all-trades mechanic who takes pride in ownership and quality work, apply today.
