Advantages
Top Advantages of Joining Our Team
1. High Level of Autonomy and Expertise
You won't be just a beginner here—this role requires a Journeyman-level mechanic and treats you like one. You'll be the resident expert performing complex diagnostics and repairs on critical systems (engines, transmissions, HVAC, hydraulics, and electrical). This means:
Challenging Work: You get to tackle major scheduled overhauls and sophisticated troubleshooting, keeping your skills sharp.
Specialized Skill Development: The job allows you to specialize in specific parts (like braking or steering systems), fostering deep expertise.
2. Variety and Scope of Work
Say goodbye to repetitive tasks! Your responsibilities cover the full spectrum of fleet maintenance, ensuring no two days are exactly alike:
Full Vehicle Coverage: From basic oil changes and tune-ups to full engine diagnostics and minor body repairs (like glass and bumpers).
Roadside Assistance: The ability to occasionally perform minor repairs along the highway adds variety and a sense of immediacy to your work.
System Diversity: Working on gas and diesel engines, 12- and 24-volt electrical systems, air and hydraulic brakes, and complex computer systems.
3. Safety and Professional Development Focus
We prioritize your well-being and growth, which is a significant advantage in the industry:
Commitment to Safety: You are provided with and expected to use safety and protective equipment and observe safe work practices.
Continuous Learning: The job includes a requirement to attend in-service training to develop and improve your knowledge and skills, ensuring you stay current with new technologies.
4. A Critical and Complete Role
You are essential to the operation of the entire fleet. Your role involves more than just hands-on repair:
End-to-End Responsibility: You manage everything from diagnosing the problem to performing the repair, testing the vehicle (road tests), and advising drivers on future repair needs.
Inventory Control: You play a role in controlling and verifying parts inventory and securing work tools, giving you oversight of your operational resources.
Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing: The Nuts and Bolts
Under the direction of the Head Mechanic, you'll be the go-to expert for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our entire fleet. Your day-to-day will be dynamic, but here’s a snapshot of the essential functions:
Expert Diagnostics: You'll be the Sherlock Holmes of mechanics! Read work orders, perform test drives, and use your advanced diagnostic skills and testing equipment to zero in on issues with engines, transmissions, brake systems, steering, suspensions, and complex electrical systems.
Full-Service Repair & Overhaul: From minor repairs to scheduled major overhauls on both gas and diesel engines, transmissions, and generators, you’ll handle it all. This includes repairing, adjusting, and testing everything from the drivetrain and wheel alignments to HVAC and hydraulic systems.
Preventive Power: Conduct regular preventive maintenance checks (including monthly full-fleet inspections) and tune-ups to keep breakdowns at bay.
Body & Minor Highway Repair: Perform minor body repairs (like replacing glass and bumpers) and assist with roadside repairs to get our vehicles back in service fast.
Safety & Compliance Champion: Maintain a clean and safe work area, use all required safety gear, and complete daily maintenance and repair logs accurately.
