Responsibilities
In this Junior Accountant role in Toronto, you will be responsible for the following:
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Generate and send invoices to clients based on project milestones.
- Monitor customer accounts for outstanding balances and follow up on collections.
- Apply payments and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate records.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Record journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, and expense allocations.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger and ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Assist with financial statement preparation by reconciling accounts and verifying data.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management review.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate month-end close.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience across various functions including AP and AR
- Ability and willingness to work fully onsite
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency with SAP
