As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from winning proposals and overseeing complex technical designs to managing client relationships and mentoring junior staff. Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Lead the design for major electrical construction projects, ensuring all technical requirements—including power distribution, fire alarms, life safety, generators, and lighting controls—are met.
- Team Management: Provide daily technical direction to a minimum of two subordinates, conducting performance reviews and providing mentorship to junior staff.
- Project Lifecycle Management: Conduct site reviews, manage change notices, and oversee contract administration to resolve construction issues effectively.
- Business Development: Respond to and secure Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to drive firm growth.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Manage and nurture professional relationships with building owners, architects, and contractors.
- Technical Verification: Select appropriate equipment and verify all design calculations to ensure compliance with building classifications and client standards.
Qualifications
- Credentials: A P.Eng., C.E.T., LEL, or LET designation is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 7 - 10+ years of electrical engineering experience specifically within the building services industry.
- Technical Mastery: Extensive knowledge of OBC, OESC, NFPA, and IES codes.
- Sector Expertise: Proven track record in educational, commercial, or residential sectors (experience with healthcare or long-term care is a significant asset).
- Software & Systems: Proficiency in delivering documentation for power systems, auxiliary systems (IT/AV), and site photometric plans.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a focus on analytical thinking and customer service.
- Work Schedule: Comfortable working out of the Hamilton, ON office 5 days a week.
