Responsibilities
Key Job Elements
•Support Design Engineers in the selection of materials to meet customer requirements and contractual specifications
•Assist in developing and maintaining Materials Data Base for use by the design engineers and follow established procedures
•Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to Production, supplier or field issues related to material quality or non-conformance to material requirements
•Perform various testing/inspection of material/components in meteorological laboratory
•Support failure investigations, create test plans, execute tests and create test reports
•Assist in planning, organize, and maintain records of progression to ensure successful completion of assigned projects on schedule and within budget
•Support in developing plans and estimates for future projects (ROMS’s, BOE’s, project plans, informal estimates) in response to customer and contractual requirements
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
•University degree in Materials Engineering discipline.
•Minimum 3-5 years directly related work experience with materials in an automotive environment
•Strong background in high strength steels, heat treatment processes, and castings
•High analytical skills to solve materials problems at component, subsystem, and system/vehicle level
•Experienced with mechanical drawings, ASTMs, ANSI, SAE, and MIL-Specs standards
•Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills
•Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications and other engineering software
•Ability to work well in a team environment
•Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
•Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space.
