This is a pivotal role for a hands-on engineer who thrives on the full product lifecycle—from the "napkin sketch" concept to rigorous field testing. Responsibilities
As a Senior member of the team, you won’t just be sitting behind a screen; you will be the bridge between theoretical design and manufacturing reality. Your expertise will directly influence the reliability and safety of advanced mechanical systems used globally.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead Design Initiatives: Take ownership of innovative tool development, creating robust concepts and translating them into precise manufacturing drawings.
Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Analysis & Validation: Conduct sophisticated stress and fluid analyses to ensure performance in high-vibration and extreme-temperature applications.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot complex technical challenges in existing designs, proposing and implementing high-impact enhancements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical subject matter expert for other departments, ensuring all projects align with HSE standards and Quality Management Systems.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Credentials: Licensed P.Eng. with APEGA (or clear eligibility for immediate registration in Alberta).
Experience: 4+ years of post-grad engineering experience, specifically within mechanical design and product development.
Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, including simulation tools (FEA/CFD) and SW-PDM Vault for revision control.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of GD&T, material selection, machining processes, and manufacturing workflows.
Communication: Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
The "Nice-to-Haves":
Direct design experience with MWD/LWD tools or Mud Drilling Motors.
Direct field experience within oil and gas drilling operations.
Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) processes, such as patent filings and design registrations.
Ability to provide a clear result for a drug and alchohol prescreening test
