Responsibilities
Execute high-precision individual fitting, assembly (70-80% of the role), and set-up of intricate, heavy components using detailed blueprints.
Perform heavy-duty MIG welding (20-30% of the role) in complex and challenging positions, including overhead and within large assemblies like axles.
Demonstrate mandatory proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints and accurately interpreting all associated weld symbols and trade math.
Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment to safely move and position heavy parts and assemblies, with refresher training provided if needed.
Prioritize and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality, recognizing reliability as a key component of success in this Fitter-Welder role.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering strictly to all safety policies and performing duties as a professional Fitter-Welder.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of practical fitting experience in a heavy industrial setting is required for this role as a Fitter-Welder.
- Must possess relevant Canadian experience working in a skilled trade environment due to the immediate requirements of the role.
- Experience with heavy-duty equipment and materials, ideally from sectors like mining (e.g., Kamatsu, Caterpillar) or off-road machinery, is highly valued.
- Proven capability in working in a non-clean room manufacturing environment that involves climbing and fitting/welding in awkward or confined positions.
- Required ability to pass the in-house weld test, focused on performance; prior CWB certification (even if expired) is a great asset.
- Mandatory ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and perform basic trade math for accurate fitting and quality control.
