The Operations Officer executes a broad range of general and specialized back-office transactions and processing activities. The core function involves maintaining the integrity of financial accounts by performing complex reconciliations, referring or escalating operational issues, and supporting partners with incoming transaction validations. This role requires consistently exercising discretion, adhering to strict deadlines, and maintaining the highest standard of service quality in a fast-paced environment.
Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid: 3 months full-time onsite, then 4 days onsite per week)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Duration: 12-month contract with possibility of extension and conversion.
Rate: $25.50/hour

Responsibilities
Account Reconciliation: Perform accurate, timely, and high-volume daily balancing and reconciliation of multiple financial accounts.
Break Resolution: Systematically investigate and identify discrepancies ("breaks"), determining the root cause and the responsible party.
Internal Communication: Prepare and send clear, professional email communications to internal teams and individuals responsible for breaks, ensuring effective handoff for correction.
Issue Tracking: Monitor and follow up to ensure all identified breaks are corrected and resolved promptly within the defined SLAs.
Process Adherence: Understand and comply with internal operating policies, procedures, and relevant industry regulations (e.g., Anti-Money Laundering).
Service Delivery: Prioritize and manage a personal workload to meet departmental productivity and service quality targets.
Process Improvement: Actively review current processes and provide constructive ideas for improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
Qualifications
Must-Have Hard Skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel: Demonstrated proficiency in complex functions, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and the ability to run Macros.
Reconciliation Expertise: Strong practical experience in performing detailed financial reconciliation.
Account Balancing: Proven ability to accurately balance and manage operational accounts.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.
Experience & Education
2-3 years of overall professional experience in an administrative or operational environment.
Post-secondary education, preferably in a Finance-related discipline.
Soft Skills
Exceptional Attention to Detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Great listening skills and a high aptitude for learning new processes and systems.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Previous experience within the banking or financial services industry.
Understanding of Money Market (MM) and Foreign Exchange (FX) Products (e.g., Options, Spots and Forwards).
