As an Operations Officer III, you will operate in a fast-paced environment supporting the Securities Lending team’s clearing and settlement activities. Your primary focus is to ensure that all loans, borrows, and repays are settled within CDS and DTC environments accurately and by end-of-day deadlines. This role involves significant technical processing as well as proactive communication with traders and margin groups to resolve discrepancies. Responsibilities
Specific Accountabilities
Trade Settlement: Execute settlements in CDS and DTC for various loans, borrows, repays, and collateral tickets, ensuring all transactions are finalized by end-of-day.
Discrepancy Resolution: Monitor and report all settlement discrepancies promptly to Lending Traders and Margin groups; lead investigations to ensure issues are resolved before they impact the business.
Trader Support: Provide real-time operational support to Traders, including position checks, position movements, and answering inquiries related to lending activity.
Financial Oversight: Manage Mark to Market, Contract Compare, Fees and Rebate, Reconciliations, and Recall functions.
Audit & Compliance: Maintain and file documentation pertaining to daily settlements accurately to serve as a required audit function.
Stakeholder Management: Interact with internal partners (approximately 50% of the time) to ensure business objectives and Service Level Goals are met.
General Accountabilities
Operational Excellence: Ensure necessary procedures, due diligence, and quality controls are followed to support the accuracy of all transactions.
Continuous Improvement: Suggest and participate in process improvements and technology adoptions to increase team efficiency.
Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily huddles, work committees, and team meetings to foster a respectful and supportive workplace environment.
Professional Development: Take ownership of personal development through ongoing education and cross-training within the team.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience within the banking or financial institution industry.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Analytical Skills: Demonstrated experience in Reconciliation and identifying/resolving financial discrepancies.
Education: A University Degree is mandatory.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
Organization: Highly developed time management skills with the ability to manage strict deadlines and high volumes of work.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of CSC (Canadian Securities Course).
Progress toward or completion of CFA or CGA/CPA certifications.
Direct experience in the Settlement and Trading industry.
Familiarity with CDS and DTC settlement platforms.
Candidate Requirements
Ability to work 5 days onsite for the first 90 days.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Stable employment history (candidates with multiple short-term contracts without explanation may be excluded).
