Responsibilities
Ensure the full biweekly payroll process for hourly and salaried employees, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee compliance controls for each payroll cycle, including reconciliations and the submission of all mandatory payments and declarations.
Complete the full annual payroll cycle, including year‑end closing, tax filings, and government reporting requirements.
Perform reconciliation of payments and monitor deficits related to the Review of Insurable and Pensionable Earnings (RIPE).
Process payroll, manage employee benefits and pension plans, and prepare reports for third‑party organizations.
Generate required reports (GL, reports related to the Workers’ Compensation Board, etc.).
Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and organizational standards.
Provide guidance and support on all payroll‑related inquiries.
Work with external auditors during interim and annual payroll audits.
Contribute to updating and documenting payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and system enhancements.
Respond to employee questions and requests from Service Canada.
Manage confidential information with strict professionalism and discretion.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bilingual in French and English.
At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation.
Payroll certification (PCP or CPM) — a significant asset.
Experience with payroll platforms such as Dayforce or Ceridian.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to create customized reports.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to take initiative to improve processes and solve problems.
Capable of working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate actively with the team.
