Responsibilities
Assist in the development and testing of high-power instruments (up to 20 kW, 1000V), including AC to DC power supplies, ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards and durability for operation in demanding geophysical survey environments.
Conduct bench-level and occasional field testing for design validation and product qualification.
Troubleshoot failed circuits down to the component level to identify and resolve performance issues.
Perform schematic design, PCB layout, parts sourcing, bill of materials (BOM) documentation, design calculations, simulations, prototyping, and breadboarding.
Collaborate within assigned project goals and timelines to meet scheduled milestones.
Coordinate with cross-functional team members and shared resources allocated to high-power projects.
Provide technical support to the repair and field survey teams, including troubleshooting high-power instrument issues and delivering equipment training as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in high-power electronics testing.
Hands-on experience testing a variety of AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion topologies, including PWM, PFC boost, and linear regulation.
Proven ability to troubleshoot high-power AC to DC power supplies down to the component level.
Strong troubleshooting skills in both analog and digitally controlled closed-loop systems.
Solid understanding of control theory and its practical application.
Proficient in Altium Designer for schematic entry and PCB layout.
Experience using additional design and simulation tools such as PADS, PSPICE, Mathcad, PSIM, or similar platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
