Responsibilities
Production Manager should:
- Ensure the manufacturing activities are set up and structured based on meeting customer releases so as to minimize inventory while providing the customer with prompt delivery.
- Customer release are derived from EDI transmissions or whichever transmission platform is used (ie. Excel sheets, email form etc).
- Maintain communication channels with direct reports so as to ensure efficient daily operations.
- When and where required, assist direct reports with attendance management, performance management and corrective action of production associates.
- Ensure the orders are released in the chronological order (FIFO) unless circumstances dictate that the release date is overridden to comply with various customer needs.
- Ensure all work in process is properly tagged in accordance with procedures and instructions.
- Ensure properly maintained equipment and appropriate trained associates are available to carry out manufacturing activities.
- Comply with provisions of Safety Regulator Governing Bodies and take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker.
- Be visible, assume leadership, assist in developing and initiating an effective health and safety attitude.
- Provide input in continuous improvement and APQP meetings.
Qualifications
Production Manager must have :
- Post Secondary Education Relevant to the Role
- 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must be familiar with quality and automotive certification requirements and Health and Safety Legislation.
- Strong technical background.
- General understanding of the function and operation of fabricating equipment.
- Must have blueprint reading knowledge.
- Must be team oriented and have excellent communication skills.
- Must have excellent organization skills.
- Computer skills.
