Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing as a Project Engineer – Automation and Control:
• Design, program, and optimize automated systems including PLC, HMI, servo motors, and variable frequency drives.
• Develop, maintain, and standardize control programs to ensure robustness and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex automation and equipment control issues, providing crucial second-level support.
• Optimize production lines to improve performance, quality, and operational reliability.
• Support the maintenance team, including electrotechnicians, in improving and enhancing the reliability of systems.
• Act as the site’s technical reference for automation.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee automation and electrical projects, as well as lead specific project components within the role.
• Manage projects end-to-end, including needs assessment, timelines, budgets, and progress tracking.
• Contribute to the deployment of Operational Technology (OT) initiatives and industrial system integration.
• Collaborate smoothly with internal teams (production, maintenance, engineering) and external partners.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and applicable technical standards.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement of equipment and processes.
• Perform any other related duties as required by operational needs.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For In Our Next Project Engineer – Automation and Control
Required:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Automated Production Engineering (GPA), Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively, a College diploma (DEC) in Automation and Control, combined with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, may be considered if you possess equivalent skills to a Bachelor’s degree.
• Significant hands-on experience in PLC/HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
• Proven experience with motion control systems, such as servo motors and variable frequency drives.
• Strong knowledge of electrical schematic design.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is essential, as the role involves interacting with employees and customers.
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.
• An analytical mindset paired with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Autonomy and a strong sense of accountability.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Technical leadership and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A results-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Nice to Have:
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of OT systems and connected industrial environments.
