Let’s be honest: managing a construction project is a bit like trying to fit a grand piano into a Smart car while singing opera. It takes planning, nerves of steel, and a bulletproof sense of humor.
...
If you are a Civil Engineering Project Manager (Intermediate or Senior) and you’re tired of just being a number in a giant Excel spreadsheet, we have something for you. We are recruiting for a growing construction and Engineering & Design company in Montreal that understands you can build solid structures without having a corporate culture as rigid as reinforced concrete.
We aren't looking for a robot who just points at dates on a calendar. We are looking for a real human. Someone who can chat with the superintendent in the morning, negotiate with a supplier at lunch, and reassure a client in the evening. You will lead stimulating residential and commercial projects, surrounded by a team that gives you the means to achieve your ambitions (and probably a few coffees).
A quick note on language: Since our job sites are in Quebec, mastery of French (spoken and written) is non-negotiable (we need to understand each other when talking about joists!). English is a very practical asset for navigating the Montreal environment, but French is the language of work.
Advantages
Why you will love working here (Advantages)
We know you spend a large part of your life at work, so it might as well be enjoyable and rewarding. Here is what awaits you:
• A salary that brings a smile: between $85,000 and $130,000, depending on whether you are a Jedi or a Jedi Master of construction.
• 4 weeks of vacation to decompress (promised, we won't call you on the beach).
• A complete group insurance plan (dental, vision, life, telemedicine... the works).
• A pension plan with employer contribution (for your golden years in the sun).
• A "family" atmosphere: here, we work hard, but we laugh hard too. Social club, team activities, and zero useless office politics.
• Schedule flexibility, because we know you have a life outside the job site.
Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities (or how you will save our days)
As a Project Manager within our Engineering & Design division, you will be the captain of the ship. Don't panic, we won't let you sink. Here are your main missions:
• Turn paper plans into real buildings (it’s kind of magic, right?) by managing the full project lifecycle.
• Make MS Project your best friend to manage schedules and ensure we don’t finish in 2035.
• Keep a hawk's eye on budgets and profitability (to avoid giving the accountant a heart attack).
• Play diplomat by coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and professionals.
• Get out in the field! Chat with superintendents, check quality, and ensure everyone goes home safe (CNESST).
• Manage those famous site "surprises" with creativity rather than panic.
Qualifications
To succeed in this Randstad Operational role, knowing how to wear a hard hat isn't enough. We are looking for someone who has:
• A black belt in problem-solving ("Plan B" is your specialty).
• An iron fist in a velvet glove for negotiations.
• The ability to read complex blueprints as easily as a restaurant menu.
• Mastery of the Office suite and MS Project (if you know Maestro, we’ll roll out the red carpet).
• Natural leadership: you know how to motivate the troops even when it's raining, and the concrete is late.
The Ideal Profile (Requirements)
• You have a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Architecture (College or University).
• You have between 5 and 10 years of experience (you’ve seen it all, as they say).
• You know the Building Code and Quebec construction laws inside out.
• Are you a member of the OIQ? That’s great. Not a member but have the experience? That’s great too.
• You have a valid driver's license to visit our beautiful Montreal sites.
