Responsibilities
Lead one or more projects or initiatives through all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business outcomes.
Lead discovery, planning, and requirements-gathering activities to establish clear business objectives, scope boundaries, success measures, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, and deliverables.
Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, planning sessions, and governance discussions to support informed decision-making and project success.
Develop and maintain project management plans, schedules, risk registers, issue logs, dependency logs, communication plans, governance processes, and status reporting mechanisms.
Manage project scope by assessing proposed changes, identifying impacts, preparing recommendations, and facilitating appropriate governance decisions.
Coordinate the planning, prioritization, delivery, and approval of project deliverables across internal teams, external vendors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure work is completed on time and aligned to project objectives.
Coordinate and support the delivery of communications, marketing, digital, content, event, partnership, or stakeholder-engagement workstreams by facilitating planning, scheduling, issue resolution, dependency management, approvals, and stakeholder alignment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, stakeholders, vendors, business leaders, and delivery teams while leading cross-functional teams to ensure effective collaboration, communication, accountability, and successful delivery outcomes.
Monitor project performance and proactively identify, assess, communicate, and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery challenges.
Prepare and present project updates, options analyses, recommendations, and decision materials for project sponsors, governance bodies, and executive stakeholders.
Support Agile and hybrid delivery approaches through backlog management, roadmap planning, sprint planning, stakeholder reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement activities.
Identify opportunities to improve project delivery practices, governance processes, requirements-gathering approaches, stakeholder engagement practices, and organizational project management maturity.
Qualifications
5-8 years of business experience, including at least 3-4 years leading projects, programs, initiatives, organizational change efforts, or business transformation activities.
Experience independently managing projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, implementation, and close-out.
Experience developing project charters, business cases, project management plans, schedules, budgets, governance frameworks, communication plans, and status reporting processes.
Experience leading requirements-gathering workshops, stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, process-mapping workshops, backlog creation activities, and solution-definition discussions.
Experience establishing scope boundaries, documenting assumptions and constraints, managing project scope, and assessing impacts arising from proposed scope changes.
Experience facilitating stakeholder alignment and consensus-building across multiple business units, leadership groups, subject matter experts, vendors, and delivery teams.
Experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and change requests while providing recommendations and escalation options to sponsors and governance bodies.
Experience leading Agile, hybrid, and/or traditional project delivery approaches, including backlog management, sprint planning, roadmap planning, governance reviews, and delivery oversight.
Experience supporting cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, organizational change, and executive visibility.
Experience preparing and presenting project updates, options, recommendations, risks, issues, and decisions to sponsors, steering committees, senior leaders, and executive stakeholders.
Post-secondary education in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Commerce, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Professional project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or an equivalent recognized certification.
In addition to the required experience listed above, the preferred candidate will have direct experience, working knowledge, or an educational background in the following areas:
Communications & Engagement – Experience supporting communications, public engagement, storytelling, advocacy, awareness, or brand-related initiatives involving diverse stakeholder groups.
