Responsibilities
As a critical player in their finance department, you will manage the full accounting cycle for a designated retail property portfolio:
Full-Cycle Portfolio Accounting: Manage day-to-day financial operations and monthly closing processes for the portfolio.
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements and management reports in strict compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
Cash Management: Oversee and optimize cash flow balances across the properties.
Year-End Recoveries: Drive the year-end tenant reconciliation process for common area maintenance (CAM) and realty tax billings.
Collaborative Budgeting: Partner closely with property management and operations teams to assist in annual budget preparation and forecasting.
Stakeholder Relations: Serve as a key financial contact for external stakeholders, providing clear, data-driven financial insights.
Qualifications
Education: College or University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within the real estate industry.
Technical Savvy: Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS reporting standards and advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, financial modeling).
Language Skills: Fully bilingual (English/French). Note: Fluent English proficiency (written and verbal) is required as you will collaborate extensively with out-of-province colleagues and business functions across Canada who do not speak French.
Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong autonomy, and a passion for financial accuracy. Public company experience is a strong asset.
