We are looking for a Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist in the Manufacturing industry to join the growing team for our client in the London area.
The Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for:
Sourcing and procurement of materials and components for the ongoing production requirements of the business.

Recording and monitoring inventory of materials.
Undertaking special projects related to purchasing or inventory initiatives.

Responsibilities
1) Review and understand current material requirements using ERP software or other inventory reporting methods.
2) Find sources and obtain price and delivery timing quotes from vendors for required materials.
3) Work with the production department to ensure adequate materials are on hand as needed.
4) Work with the engineering department to ensure sourcing of material with the correct specifications.
5) Work with production and warehouse departments to source and maintain an adequate level of sundry supplies for welding, packaging, safety & PPE, janitorial/maintenance, etc.
6) Create and issue purchase orders to vendors. Monitor and follow-up on deliveries of the goods ordered. Report and manage material deficiency events.
7) Work with the finance department to report purchasing amounts and obtain approvals for purchases.
8) Regular monitoring and recording of stock materials and component inventory levels and keeping records up to date.
9) Participate in special projects related to material and stock, such as stock clear-out or rearrangement.
10) Participate in inventory tally counts and inventory pricing exercises at period end points.
11) Contribute data updates to weekly job costing reports.
Qualifications
1) Ability to effectively use or learn to use various computer programs associated with business operations. Primarily the ERP program with its data collection and record-keeping functions.
2) Successfully negotiates with vendors to obtain quality materials and supplies at prices and delivery times that give optimum return on investment.
3) Maintains a level of stock materials and components at the lowest level possible to ensure the highest turnover rate without compromising delivery times.
4) Learns, portrays, and utilizes a sound knowledge of common commercially available metal materials of sheet, plate, bar, tubing, as well as production operating and factory maintenance supplies.
5) Demonstrated interest shown in current or innovative processes, methods, and business best-practices.
6) Duties are performed observing safe work practices, maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations.
