Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-efficient purchase of ingredients, packaging materials, and production-related services.
Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers in compliance with food safety standards and production requirements.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements while ensuring consistent quality and reliable supply.
Monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery timelines, compliance, quality, and responsiveness.
Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, R&D, and Production teams to ensure raw materials meet all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks such as seasonality, product recalls, and regulatory changes.
Supervise, train, and support the development of the purchasing team.
Oversee procurement documentation and reporting processes.
Stay up to date with market trends affecting raw material costs, lead times, and availability.
Lead or contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the procurement function.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
5 to 7 years of purchasing experience in the food manufacturing industry, including at least 2 years in a management role.
Strong knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Skills:
Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Good understanding of procurement challenges specific to the food industry (perishability, sourcing constraints, seasonal availability, etc.).
Proficiency with procurement software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills and team leadership capabilities
