Responsibilities•Design and optimize mechanical components for automated strapping systems using SolidWorks •Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, horse power, pressure, force, etc.•Design hydraulic and pneumatic schematics •Develop manufacturing drawings in accordance with company standards. •Support production and assembly departments by communicating design intent, troubleshooting, and capturing as-built changes.•Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. •Work with outside vendors for technical specifications •Analyze design concepts, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.•Work within project scope, timeline and budget, and communicate should a project be at risk•Review machine operations and safety requirements with controls department•Regularly communicate progress on tasks to manager•Assist in creating equipment manuals, and other documentation as requiredQualifications•5+ years of experience in mechanical design within custom automation machinery•Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of common machine shop techniques •Post secondary education within Mechanical Engineering •Proficient in SolidWorks•Strong verbal and written communication skills•Excellent problem solving and time management skillsSummaryIf you are interested in this opportunity, then apply online or send your resume directly to swapna.nair@randstad.ca.
