Responsibilities
Registered Pharmacy Technician - Full-Time, Permanent, Hamilton, ON - Specialty Compounding - Healthcare
Prescription Processing: Receive, input, and process prescriptions while generating accurate worksheets and labels, ensuring 100% accuracy against the original order.
Pharmaceutical Calculations: Perform complex calculations related to unique prescription formulations and rigourously verify all results.
Product Release: Conduct the final check and release of designated prepared products within your professional scope of practice following the pharmacist's clinical review.
File Maintenance: Ensure all prescriptions are complete and authentic while keeping meticulous patient profiles and drug information files.
Sterile Compounding: Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile mixtures in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and aseptic standards.
Quality Verification: Perform vital verifications during various compounding stages, checking weights, dilutions, additive volumes, and final preparations.
Cleanroom & TPN Support: Maintain active IV cleanroom certification, verify Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) components, and perform filter integrity tests.
Clinical Triage: Screen and triage clinical referrals, responding professionally to inquiries from patients, caregivers, care coordinators, and nursing providers.
Equipment & Coordination: Determine appropriate infusion methods, order required supplies, program CADD/IV pumps, and troubleshoot equipment issues with clinicians.
Billing & Documentation: Manage electronic Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) billing, coordinate delivery schedules with dispatch, and maintain accurate electronic pharmacy records.
Inventory Control: Ensure medication storage areas meet optimal standards, assist with restocking, and conduct regular expiry checks.

Professional Designation: Active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPh.T) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
Education: Successful completion of a recognized CCAPP-accredited Registered Pharmacy Technician program (or equivalent).
Open Availability: Total availability to work full-time operational shifts ranging from 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM through to 9:00 PM. This includes openness to any day of the week, including a fair rotation of weekends and statutory holidays.
Environment Comfort: Ability to work comfortably and meticulously within a sterile cleanroom setting.
Reliability: Commitment to a consistent schedule with no major interruptions to your availability over the next calendar year (excluding standard, pre-planned vacations).
Work Eligibility: Legally eligible to work full-time hours in Canada.
Timeline: Ready to start within a couple of weeks (following a standard notice period if transitioning from a permanent role).
