In this dynamic consulting role, you will champion a diverse pipeline of critical business and technology initiatives. Stepping directly into active, high-priority workstreams, you will act as a key delivery leader within an elite generalist pool. You will map your foundational retail expertise to a rotating slate of complex projects—ranging from retail applications and software configuration to infrastructure updates and point-of-sale (POS) implementations—ensuring rapid execution, rigorous financial tracking, and seamless cross-functional delivery.
Duration: 6-Month Contract (with high potential for extension and contract-to-permanent conversion)
Location: Montreal (MTL) preferred / Hybrid
Core Domain: Retail Technology PMO, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Store Operations
Language Requirements: English (French bilingualism is a strong asset)
Advantages
Enterprise Strategic Scale: Drive critical business and technology transformations for one of Canada's most recognizable, large-scale retail and food networks.
Diverse Project Portfolio: Expand your technical breadth by managing a rotating slate of projects, from commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and cloud migrations to digital workflows (e.g., ServiceNow).
High Executive Visibility: Present directly to transformation directors and PMO executives, building a strong corporate profile within a national delivery network.
Contract-to-FTE Potential: Benefit from a specialized contract-to-permanent pathway, allowing you to establish a deep cultural and execution footprint before transitioning to a long-term permanent role.
Responsibilities
Adaptive Project Execution: Standardize, govern, and execute the end-to-end delivery of diverse technology projects, including retail application configurations, infrastructure rollouts, and front-end store systems.
Performance Optimization & Course Correction: Step into active, unbacked initiatives or legacy workstreams; proactively audit project health, correct lagging milestones, and accelerate time-to-value.
Stakeholder Integration & Alignment: Serve as the primary communication bridge between cross-functional business units (Supply Chain, Merchandising, Store Operations, Finance) and core IT delivery teams, translating complex operational requests into clear technical execution blueprints.
Financial & Resource Accountability: Actively manage end-to-end project accounting—governing internal full-time employees (FTEs), contract resources, and strategic third-party vendors against strict business case budgets.
Agile Risk Triaging: Navigate fast-moving retail cycles by anticipating resource bottlenecks, resolving platform integration dependencies, and maintaining continuity across regional banner-level rollouts.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of progressive professional experience operating as an IT Project Manager or Scrum Master within a structured corporate Project Management Office (PMO).
Retail Domain Expertise: Proven background in the Retail or Grocery industry. You must possess a deep, intuitive understanding of brick-and-mortar retail environments and how technology changes directly impact stores, operations, margins, and supply chain logistics.
Versatile Delivery Toolkit: Referenceable track record managing projects across various technology spaces, such as infrastructure deployments, application development, SaaS integrations, or operational workflows.
Ambiguity Competency: Demonstrated ability to step into in-progress or partially defined initiatives, parse out requirements, establish structure, and drive progress independently.
Stakeholder Communication: Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with the professional presence required to constructively challenge timelines and align director-level operational leaders.
Nice-to-Have Skills & Assets
Bilingualism (English/French): Strong written and verbal French proficiency is highly preferred to support major regional business divisions.
Being locally based in the Montreal (MTL) area to facilitate hybrid/on-site alignment.
Holding professional industry credentials, such as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) designation.
