Occasional travel to for design site visits or field reviews (typically zero to two times per month, but not limited to such).
The Contractor shall only be entitled to reimbursement of travel, accommodation, and other business-related time and expenses to the extent such time and expenses would have been incurred if the travel had originated from the identified office. Any additional time and expenses resulting from the Contractor’s choice of residence shall be the sole responsibility of the Contractor and shall not be reimbursed by company.
Travel costs reimbursed as per expense policy.
Responsibilities
Work Assignment Requirements
Engineering Analysis
Use CYME engineering software to analyze existing and future distribution circuits
Perform load flow analysis using CYME DIST to assess:
Circuit capacity
Load connection feasibility
Voltage profiles and low voltage mitigation
Phase balancing
Conductor size upgrades
Fault current analysis
Conduct:
Protection coordination studies using CYME TCC;
Determine appropriate sizing/settings for
Fuses (branch lines),
Reclosers, switchgear, capacitor banks, voltage regulators.
Thermal studies of cables in ducts with appropriate derating of feeder cables using CYME CAP:
Optimizing ampacity of cables in duct banks
Establishing thermal limits of distribution feeders
Non-linear pole analysis and non-standard overhead line designs using SPIDAcalc -- experience with PLS-Pole and PLS-CADD is an asset
Use SPIDA Calc and/or PLS CAD to assess pole line structures, conductor tensions, and clearances per CSA 22.3 no1.
Engineering Support
Provide technical expertise in support of capital infrastructure renewal and expansion programs
Prepare engineering deliverables as POR
Review engineering deliverables created by consulting companies as OE.
Review customer electrical consultant submissions for primary voltage services for compliance with requirements, including:
Protection coordination
Switchgear design
Single-line diagrams
Grounding and surge arrestors
Variance requests from standards
Work with internal stakeholders including Planning, Project Delivery, Design, Standards, Customer Consultants, Field Operations (Operations Centre, District Line Crews, Cable Crews) to develop safe, economical solutions for the distribution system
Professional Responsibilities
Fulfill Professional of Record (POR) duties for non-standard/engineered solutions.
Adhere to EGBC Bylaws, including:
Continuing Education
Quality Management Guidelines
Provide and maintain EGBC Permit to Practice.
Comply with internal Quality Management Practices (which meet or exceed EGBC requirements).
Qualifications
Must haves: Utility experience with either medium or high voltage systems, project experience acting as OE
Nice to have: Non-linear analysis experience, CYME, protection coordination
Requirements : Provided by Consultant
P.ENG & Valid EGBC Permit to Practice
Active Basic First Aid certification
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Laptop and software licenses:
