As a recruiter for this premier firm, we are looking for a candidate who can bridge the gap between advanced actuarial modeling and strategic business advice. This is a 100% remote position, open to qualified candidates across all Canadian provinces.
Advantages
Fully Remote Flexibility: Work from any province in Canada, offering a superior work-life balance and the elimination of a daily commute.
High-Level Exposure: Gain visibility by working on cross-functional projects with diverse departments and engaging with C-suite stakeholders at major financial institutions.
Dynamic Consulting Environment: Unlike traditional "in-house" roles, you will face new challenges daily—from Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to company restructuring and new product development.
Professional Growth: Be at the forefront of the industry by participating in national committees and shaping the implementation of the latest insurance accounting standard
Responsibilities
Lead Appointed Actuary Services: Oversee actuarial liability valuations, Financial Condition Testing (FCT), and insurance accounting standard transitions (IFRS 17).
Audit & Financial Risk Support: Collaborate with accounting teams to identify and review financial risk issues; conclude on whether actuarial liabilities are fairly presented in financial statements.
Sophisticated Modeling: Utilize Moody’s AXIS to manage reserving, statistical applications, and LICAT reporting.
Strategic Advisory: Provide expert guidance on solvency, economic capital, risk management, pricing, and the efficiency of reporting processes.
Business Development: Participate in the growth of the practice by contributing to proposals, building quote estimates, and maintaining deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Designation: Must be a Qualified Actuary or in active progress toward fellowship (FSA - Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and FCIA - Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries).
Software Expertise: Mandatory proficiency in Moody’s AXIS modeling.
Technical Knowledge: Mandatory experience with IFRS 17 and LICAT reporting/valuation.
Professional Experience: Extensive background as a Life & Health (L&H) actuary, preferably within a consulting or advisory environment.
Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings in a business context.
Bilingualism: Proficiency in both English and French is considered a strong asset.
Summary
In this role, you will lead high-impact actuarial projects, providing general insurance advice and consulting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including top-tier insurers, regulators, and banks. You will be a key figure in the Risk Modelling Services team, focusing on IFRS 17 liabilities, LICAT reporting, and Appointed Actuary services. If you are a technical "whiz" in Moody’s AXIS with a passion for navigating the evolving landscape of new legislation and financial risk, this is the perfect stage for your expertise.
