This role will support the Non-Integrated Areas Planning group in managing an increasing mechanical workload across capital projects, OMA work programs, and Owner’s Engineer review activities. The successful candidate will provide preliminary design, costing, inspection, and troubleshooting expertise for diesel generating station mechanical systems in an electric utility environment. Responsibilities include supporting diesel gensets (50 kW–2.8 MW), engine auxiliary systems, diesel fuel storage and transfer systems, HVAC and fire protection systems, and cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices, while working closely with operations staff, suppliers, contractors, and consultants.

This role requires:
Experience with preliminary design, costing, inspecting and trouble-shooting of mechanical systems for diesel generating stations in an electric utility environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as it requires extensive liaison with the operations staff, suppliers, contractors and consultants
This position is needed to help with an increasing mechanical work load in capital projects, OMA work programs and Owners Engineer review work
Diesel Generation Mechanical systems include and are not limited to:
Diesel gensets (50 kW – 2.8 MW)
Diesel engine auxiliaries (engine starting, air intake, exhaust, cooling, lubrication)
Diesel fuel storage and transfer systems (tanks, pumps, filters, valves, piping, spill containment)
HVAC & fire protection for powerhouses and enclosures
Cranes, hoists and other lifting devices
Qualifications
Must-Have Competencies
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and identify priorities with minimal direction.
Demonstrates initiative and proactively identifies issues, opportunities, and required actions.
Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and applying sound judgment to move work forward.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, particularly when evaluating mechanical systems and technical issues.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with diesel generation systems and related infrastructure.
Familiarity with costing, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities associated with power generation assets.
Experience using Microsoft Copilot or other AI-enabled productivity tools in a professional environment.
Ability to use AutoCAD for conceptual design layouts and preliminary drafting activities.
