Responsibilities
• Field Oversight & Support: Conduct weekly field site visits and documented inspections, including yard, vehicle, PPE, and equipment checks. Support field supervisors with safety meeting frequencies, leading indicator tracking, and preliminary investigations.
• Compliance & Auditing: Serve as the lead internal auditor for Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits and prepare sites for successful external audits. Ensure work practices align with changing federal, provincial, and industry regulations.
• Safety Documentation & Platform Lead: Act as the administrator for SiteDocs to manage, review, and organize safety records, completed tailboard records, and incident reports.
• Training & Onboarding: Manage new hire safety orientations, drug & alcohol testing, tool/PPE distributions, and crew competency assessments. Schedule and track all required field crew safety certifications to avoid lapses.
• Incident Management: Lead root cause incident investigations, establish corrective action plans, and prepare "Lessons Learned" bulletins and client presentations.
• Site Planning: Establish site-specific emergency, environmental, and safety plans (e.g., fall protection, traffic control, critical lift, confined space, and grounding plans).
Qualifications
• 3–5 years of dedicated construction safety experience.
• Experience in the powerline or electrical utility sector is required.
• NCSO certification is required; CRSP designation is strongly preferred.
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies preferred.
• Deep working knowledge of electrical safety, working at heights, rigging/cranes, confined spaces, ground disturbance, and occupational hygiene.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Earth. Hands-on experience using safety management platforms like SiteDocs.
• Strong presentation skills for delivering crew safety topics and building solid working relationships with regulatory bodies (WCB, construction associations).
