Our client, is seeking a high-caliber Senior SAP ABAP Techno-Functional Consultant to join their Enterprise Applications division.
...
In this senior consulting role, you will bridge the gap between technical execution and business logic across the enterprise SAP ecosystem. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle—encompassing design, build, custom development, performance tuning, and production support—across both SAP ECC and modern S/4HANA environments. This position requires a rare blend of deep ABAP programming skills and cross-functional business module competency, allowing you to interface effectively with business teams, engineer advanced reporting assets, and lead development efforts for complex system enhancements.
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (4 days per week on-site at the corporate office in Brampton, ON; 1 day work from home)
Advantages
Modern S/4HANA Sandbox: Gain hands-on exposure to advanced database optimization, leveraging next-generation ABAP on HANA features and structures.
Techno-Functional Autonomy: Avoid the constraints of siloed engineering by driving cross-functional solutions that touch core financial, supply chain, and distribution modules.
Technical Leadership Footprint: Act as a senior individual contributor responsible for guiding development sprints, managing technical escalations, and mentoring junior talent.
Stable Geographic Engagement: Join a well-established corporate environment in a highly accessible Brampton corporate business park.
Responsibilities
Full-Lifecycle ABAP Development: Lead the technical design, prototyping, programming, testing, and deployment of complex custom SAP ABAP objects across ECC and S/4HANA environments.
HANA Database Optimization: Architect and implement high-performance database routines using modern development standards, including Core Data Services (CDS Views) and ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP).
Reporting & Forms Engineering: Design and customize critical enterprise output components, including Advanced Business Application Programming List Viewer (ALV) reports (Classical and Object-Oriented), SmartForms, SAPscript, and Adobe Forms.
Cross-Functional Synthesis: Analyze technical requirements against functional realities, troubleshooting interfaces and data mappings across FI/CO (Finance/Controlling), MM (Materials Management), and SD (Sales & Distribution) modules.
Performance Tuning & SQL Governance: Diagnose processing bottlenecks and execute database code remediation, utilizing SQL tuning, efficient data handling, and optimized database access methods.
Technical Lead & Escalation: Serve as the core escalation anchor for complex runtime bugs, lead peer code-review processes, and mentor junior-to-intermediate developers within the team.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 8+ years of progressive professional experience operating as an SAP ABAP Developer or Techno-Functional Consultant.
Platform Depth: Proven development experience spanning traditional SAP ECC as well as modern SAP S/4HANA architectures.
Advanced ABAP Toolkit: Direct, referenceable experience engineering database objects via ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, and AMDP.
Output & Reporting Fluency: Mastery of output design patterns, with hands-on experience in OO ALV reporting, SmartForms, SAPscript, and Adobe Forms development.
Functional Literacy: Solid, working cross-functional knowledge of at least two core SAP modules (specifically FI/CO, MM, or SD) to properly translate business workflows into technical requirements.
Performance Tuning Savvy: Expert knowledge of performance optimization techniques, database indexing, and advanced SQL tuning parameters.
Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; a proven track record of leading technical initiatives, resolving complex bugs under tight project timelines, and supporting matrixed team structures.
Summary
If you are a battle-tested SAP ABAP Consultant who pairs a strong command of modern S/4HANA optimization (CDS/AMDP) with functional module literacy and a natural inclination for technical leadership, this Brampton-based contract offers an exceptional tech canvas. Bring your programming discipline, SQL tuning skills, and techno-functional expertise to an enterprise-defining delivery team today!
