Responsibilities
1. Review the existing SAP Business Objects infrastructure, provide recommendations, and implement approved improvements within the engagement timeframe.
2. Upgrade SAP Business Objects servers to the latest supported version to ensure ongoing SAP support, security patches, and system stability.
3. Perform analysis, design, and development of ETL processes using SAP Business Objects Data Services to support Toronto Water operational dashboards, KPIs, and analytics.
4. Assess and analyze the current ETL setup and data modelling practices within the Toronto Water environment; recommend and implement optimizations.
5. Develop, refine, modify, and maintain reports, OLAP cubes, KPIs, and dashboards to meet evolving business needs.
6. Develop ETL scripts and processes required for data migration activities related to Maximo implementation.
7. Generate business intelligence artefacts, perform analysis on water meter data, and support audits of water meter data accuracy and completeness.
8. Collaborate with project teams to support integration of Maximo data sources into the data warehouse and BOE reporting environment.
9. Participate in all systems integration testing: write and validate test cases, resolve production defects, and verify adherence to quality plans and requirements.
10. Analyze requests, make recommendations, and assist in improvements to development standards, SDLC processes, and root cause analysis.
11. Maintain and create comprehensive documentation, including business process details, field mappings between applications, and technical artefacts related to BI/BOE deliverables.
12. Utilize provided tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) to log issues, track progress, and manage tasks.
13. Perform knowledge transfer to City staff to ensure sustainability of BI/BOE solutions post-engagement.
14. Provide other related application integration, development, and business intelligence support as required.
Qualifications
1. University or Community College degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or equivalent (definite asset).
2. Certification in Software Quality Engineering or equivalent (definite asset).
3. 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Warehousing (DWH), SAP Business Objects (BOE), and ETL design/development, at expert level.
4. Proven expertise in analyzing source system data quality issues (missing values, duplicates, invalid data) and developing feedback/fix processes.
5. Strong experience building data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) programs for daily/initial loads across relational and multi-dimensional repositories.
6. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain scheduling/dependency logic, monitoring, error notification, and automation scripts for ETL processes.
7. Minimum 5 years’ experience in data integration with Maximo-related applications (preference for Salesforce and Maximo integrations in a water utility environment).
8. Expert-level capability in SAP Business Objects suite (reports, OLAP cubes, KPIs, dashboards) and SAP Data Services for ETL development.
9. Solid experience in data modelling, conceptual/logical/physical design, and tools such as PowerDesigner and Visio.
10. Proven troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills in complex BI environments.
11. Working knowledge of MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office, and issue/project tracking systems (preference for JIRA).
12. Experience with UML for process decomposition/mapping, business process re-engineering, and complex data models.
13. Experience developing data analysis applications and guided analysis/drilldown functionality.
14. Hands-on work with stakeholders to develop and document interface specifications between BI solutions and external applications.
