Our client, a leading global retail enterprise, is seeking an experienced, mid-to-seasoned Scrum Master to join their Compliance, Corporate Responsibility, and Sustainability (CCRS) group. This high-visibility portfolio supports critical corporate pillars, including legal compliance, internal audit, product safety (recalls and investigations), and environmental sustainability tracking (such as sustainable packaging for private labels).
...
In this role, you will act as a servant leader within a global team structure spanning the US, UK, Canada, and offshore partner resources. Rather than just managing third-party SaaS applications, you will drive delivery for a team focused on custom build projects—specifically managing scoped applications built on the ServiceNow platform, alongside supporting SaaS integrations (e.g., carbon tracking and financial reporting tools).
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6-Month Contract (High likelihood of extension)
Location: Remote within Canada (Candidates residing in the Greater Toronto Area will be required to visit the Mississauga, ON office occasionally)
Advantages
High-Visibility Portfolio: Work on business-critical initiatives tied directly to global sustainability goals, environmental impact, and product safety.
Strong Potential for Extension: Kick off a solid 6-month contract with a high probability of long-term renewal based on performance and pipeline.
Flexible Hybrid/Remote Model: Enjoy the comfort of working from home, with only occasional in-office collaboration if you are local to the GTA.
Global Enterprise Scale: Gain valuable experience working within a sophisticated, large-scale international agile delivery environment.
Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation: Lead core Agile/Scrum ceremonies for your team, including daily standups, iteration planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
Release Management & Documentation: Take ownership of end-to-end release documentation and timing for your team's deliverables (acting as the driving force for releases in the absence of a dedicated Release Manager).
Team Scaling & Support: Initially support one dedicated scrum team, with the flexibility and capacity to stretch and support a second team as needed.
SAFe Collaboration: Actively participate in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) ecosystem, including quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning and Scrum of Scrums to manage cross-team dependencies.
Product Owner Partnership: Partner closely with Product Owners and Product Analysts to ensure the backlog is continuously refined, estimated, and prioritized.
Impediment Removal: Protect the team from external interference and proactively clear blockers, while escalating complex risks to senior leadership.
Metrics & Compliance: Track project deliverables and team metrics (KPIs) to measure progress, validate time tracking, and ensure adherence to enterprise compliance guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master/Agile Practitioner in a large-scale enterprise Agile environment.
Custom Build Delivery: Proven track record supporting build projects (custom application development) rather than strictly maintaining out-of-the-box SaaS applications.
Release Governance: Strong, demonstrated release management skills with experience handling release documentation and scheduling independently.
Framework Expertise: Expert knowledge of Scrum and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). A SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent Agile certification is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent IT delivery training and hands-on experience.
Technical Familiarity (Non-Technical Role): While deep technical configuration skills are not required, familiarity with enterprise platform environments (like ServiceNow) and hybrid software/SaaS ecosystems is an asset.
Summary
If you are a process-driven Scrum Master with strong release management chops and a passion for servant leadership, this contract offers the perfect platform to make a tangible impact on global sustainability and compliance initiatives. Bring your SAFe expertise to a collaborative global team and hit the ground running this month!
