Responsibilities
-Manage international air export shipments from booking to final delivery including complex, hazardous, oversized, temperature controlled and project cargo
-Coordinate shipment routing and airline bookings based on freight requirements, customer needs, transit times, and operational considerations
-Prepare, review and audit export and dangerous goods documentation including IATA dangerous goods documentation and consignor’s declarations to ensure completeness and accuracy
-Ensure shipments are processed according to applicable regulatory, customs, security, and air transport requirements
-Coordinate with airlines, ground handlers, road carriers, customs service providers and international logistics partners to ensure the fast and efficient movement of goods
-Monitor shipping milestones and proactively address delays, service issues, and operational challenges
-Maintain accurate shipping data, documentation, and records in the company’s transportation management system
-Use CargoWise for shipment processing, data entry, document generation, tracking and reporting
-Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and operational issues
-Provide proactive updates and support to customers throughout the entire shipment lifecycle
-Serve as a resource for dangerous goods shipments and provide advice to colleagues when necessary
-Support the resolution of complex operational issues and identify opportunities for service improvement and efficiency
-Assist with process standardization, compliance initiatives, internal audits, and employee training
-Keep accurate records and ensure that all required shipping documents are properly completed and filed
-Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maintain service levels and meet customer requirements.
Qualifications
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in international air export operations with a freight forwarding company
-Current or recently renewed IATA certification for dangerous goods required
-Direct experience in the handling of complex and specialized cargo, including oversized, temperature controlled, hazardous and project goods
-Practical experience with CargoWise strongly preferred
-Good knowledge of Canadian export procedures, international trade regulations and export documentation
-Recent and direct experience in the Canadian freight transportation industry required
-Experience limited to trucking, cross-border transport or export operations on the shipper’s side will not meet the requirements of this position.
-Experience working with airlines, ground handlers, trucking carriers and international logistics partners
-Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. No sponsorship visa or relocation assistance is available.
-Ability to work entirely on site in Montreal; remote work is not available.
