As the Senior BA, you will serve as a liaison between business users and the IT project and software development teams. You will coordinate requirement definition sessions with multiple business teams to identify functional and nonfunctional requirements needed to enhance and support critical business activities. Additionally, you will conduct analysis of platforms integration and data flows to help support the creation of design documentation and help in the delivery of the nonfunctional requirements. The Senior IT BA can also help to drive progress during the requirements definition stage of projects, by ensuring the right partners are engaged for a complete requirement identification. The Senior IT BA also helps to define the system integration points and data used across systems.
A Day in the Life
Translate business requirements into organized, documented functional and nonfunctional requirements for reference by IT project and development teams. This includes use of requirement templates, process maps, data and process flows, and data mapping when applicable
Prioritizes, controls and manages the requirements and communication with the local and global project and development teams
Considers new or existing global functionality to be integrated within the business platforms
Conducts data and systems analysis to deliver high level functionality, data and system integration maps
Assists solution and data architects in development of system architecture documentation based on the analysis conducted
Assists with testing as required, these may include identification of test cases, reviewing test cases and coordination of user acceptance testing
Guides and proposes solutions for business requirements along with the business product teams, for the purpose of identifying or defining functional and nonfunctional system requirements
Works with the technology architecture team in the development and documentation of nonfunctional system requirements and design specifications
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/systems or similar
8+ years of experience in business analytics, documenting business requirements (functional and nonfunctional)
Understanding of the software development life cycle (multiple disciplines Agile/Scrum, waterfall etc.)
Strong facilitation and organizational skills
Proficient in using JIRA and Confluence
Excellent communication skills – able to communicate with all levels in the organization
Strong focus on client service
