We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOPS/Cloud Engineer to design, build, and support high-availability cloud infrastructure and automated delivery pipelines. In this role, you will take full ownership of both containerized and non-containerized workloads, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management automation to provision and maintain robust AWS environments. Working closely with cross-functional development, security, and operations teams, you will manage cloud container platforms, enforce least-privilege security controls, optimize infrastructure costs, and build reliable CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous, secure application delivery.
...
Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite – 5 days/week required)
Duration: 12-month contract.
Advantages
Dual Workload Focus: Extensive hands-on ownership across both containerized (ROSA/EKS) and non-containerized cloud workloads.
Advanced Automation Stack: Deep architectural exposure designing Terraform modules, Ansible playbooks, and GitOps pipelines.
Enterprise AWS Scope: Multi-account AWS architecture leveraging the AWS Well-Architected Framework and native security tools.
Predictable Onsite Synergy: Collaborate directly with engineering teams and technical leads in a focused, 5-day onsite workspace.
Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Architecture: Design, provision, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure—including VPCs, subnets, security groups, IAM policies, EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, Route 53, and CloudFront—following AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, maintain, refactor, and version-control modular Terraform configurations to enable automated drift detection, policy enforcement, and repeatable infrastructure deployment.
Configuration Management Automation: Author and maintain idempotent Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections to automate server configurations, dynamic inventory management, application deployments, and compliance enforcement across non-containerized environments.
Container Platform Administration: Administer and operate Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) clusters, overseeing cluster upgrades, node scaling, Operator management, Helm charts, and containerized workload orchestration.
CI/CD & GitOps Engineering: Design and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) for declarative application and infrastructure delivery.
Security & Compliance: Implement security controls, centralized secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager), least-privilege RBAC, NetworkPolicies, container security scanning, and automated guardrails (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub).
Cost & Observability Optimization: Implement AWS cost optimization strategies (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, rightsizing) while configuring CloudWatch observability, logging, and monitoring metrics for critical platform services.
Documentation & Support: Produce and update operational runbooks, architectural decision records (ADRs), and technical deployment specifications.
Qualifications
Container & Non-Container Workloads: Extensive, proven hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing both containerized and non-containerized workloads in enterprise cloud environments (Strictly Required).
Terraform & IaC Design: Extensive experience designing, building, refactoring, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform modules and remote backends (Strictly Required).
Ansible Automation: Extensive experience authoring, maintaining, and integrating Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections for automated server configuration and deployment (Strictly Required).
AWS Core Services: Proven track record designing and managing core AWS infrastructure components (VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudFront) (Strictly Required).
OpenShift & ROSA Administration: Hands-on experience administering Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) or enterprise Kubernetes clusters, including scaling and upgrades (Strictly Required).
CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Strong background designing automated delivery pipelines using GitLab CI or Azure DevOps, alongside GitOps tools like ArgoCD.
