Responsibilities
Privacy Impact Assessment Leadership: Direct and manage the full lifecycle development of detailed Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) to evaluate compliance across new technologies, software frameworks, and operational policies.
Risk Countermeasure Formulation: Analyze complex data lifecycle tracks to detect systemic privacy risks, building actionable remediation playbooks and security safeguards to minimize liabilities.
Legislative & Jurisprudence Research: Conduct thorough regulatory analysis against provincial, municipal, federal, and international access and privacy statutes to ensure absolute data governance.
Cross-Functional Data Gathering: Coordinate with multi-disciplinary stakeholders, legal experts, and technical architects to gather systems input, mapping data flows, system interfaces, and business processes clearly.
Information & Records Governance: Align technical collection systems with corporate record-keeping policies, establishing clear rules for the classification, retention, secure storage, and disposition of personal information.
Strategic Compliance Consultation: Translate dense legal, privacy, and security principles into accessible, high-level presentations and reports tailored for technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
Accessibility & Inclusion Review: Ensure that information practices and system deliverables respect accessibility requirements and digital inclusion standards.
Qualifications
Core Privacy Seniority: 8+ years of progressive professional experience leading data privacy, information security, or regulatory compliance initiatives within highly structured corporate or public environments.
Public Sector PIA Mastery: Extensive, demonstrated experience planning, executing, and finalizing comprehensive Privacy Impact Assessments within a public sector context.
Advanced Statutory Knowledge: Expert-level capability to interpret and apply FIPPA, MFIPPA, and PHIPA, along with a strong working familiarity with PIPEDA and relevant privacy jurisprudence.
Ecosystem Process Mapping: Proven experience building and interpreting complex data flow diagrams, system interface behaviors, and business process models.
Information Management Acumen: Direct knowledge of records management principles, featuring practical experience handling information classification indexes, retention schedules, and secure disposal workflows.
Cross-Disciplinary Literacy: Strong functional understanding of related technical domains, including IT security architectures, business analysis, risk management, and cloud system topologies.
Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, with a track record of guiding diverse project teams and independently managing complex compliance deliverables.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management, Law, Information Technology, or an approved equivalent combination of education and relevant senior professional experience.
