Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and provide actionable recommendations for proposed business solutions and processes.
- Lead the creation of access and privacy tools, ensuring robust security mechanisms are in place for the collection, storage, and disclosure of personal information.
- Facilitate privacy discussions across a wide range of IT, legal, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on data and digital initiatives.
- Identify emerging policy issues and recommend mitigation strategies and privacy-enhancing technologies in accordance with PIA procedures.
- Provide technical advice on legacy systems, system interfaces, and data flows to improve the protection of personal information.
- Document physical and logical data separation and create business process procedures that illustrate how personal information is managed within new technologies.
- Assess existing regulations and data-sharing agreements to determine the impact of new initiatives on privacy frameworks and governance structures.
- Prepare status updates, briefing materials, and presentations for steering committees, advisory panels, and executive governance bodies.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in privacy impact assessment methodologies, threat/risk analysis, and information management.
- 5+ years of experience within the federal, provincial, or broader public sector, specifically adhering to IPC guidelines and GO-ITS standards.
- In-depth understanding of Freedom of Information (FOI) and Protection of Privacy legislation, regulations, and corporate directives.
- Practical knowledge of IT security concepts, technical architecture, and data flow mapping.
- Proven ability to analyze complex policy proposals and develop strategic planning options for I&IT business implications.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a track record of translating technical privacy concepts for non-expert audiences.
- Familiarity with Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and Public Sector Unified I&IT Project Methodologies.
- Maximum of 5 (five) pages.
